Hope Does Not Shut Down

Dear Friends,

As the federal government shutdown continues, many families in our community are now facing the uncertainty of reduced or delayed SNAP (food assistance) benefits. For families already stretched thin, this creates additional stress over something as basic as keeping food on the table.

At Spokane Youth for Christ, we’ve always worked to ensure that young people and their families have access to consistent support. Our pantry is stocked and open, and several of our students already receive full weekly food boxes to take home.

We want to assure you:
Those food boxes will continue.
Our programs will stay open.
Our students will still find safety, meals, belonging, and care here.

However, based on conversations with our students and families, we are also preparing for an increase in the number of youth and households who may need food support in the coming weeks.
As the situation with SNAP evolves, our role becomes even more important — providing steady, reliable care when other supports are unstable.

This is where your support makes a real difference.

If you are able, would you consider making a gift to help us prepare well and ensure that no student goes without meals or a safe place to belong during this uncertain time?

Your generosity helps us:

  • Keep the pantry stocked and ready
  • Continue full food boxes for the students who rely on them
  • Prepare to expand food support as needs increase
  • Offer consistent, compassionate spaces where students feel known and cared for

Thank you for standing with our young people, our families, and our community.

With gratitude,

Kevin Illidge
