A Call to Prayer
In my Christian walk, I have often wondered what prayer’s role is in the Christian life. Is it an attempt to commune with God? Is it perhaps moving us toward this hard-to-explain will of God? Is it merely a commandment? These and many other questions lead to the same concern: Does it work? Does it really work?
Of course, we know the answer is a resounding “yes” (Luke 1:13, 2 Kings 20:5, Deuteronomy 26:7). We know that prayer works, but perhaps not how we often expect it to. God is not a genie or a slot machine we play whenever we have a need or desire; He is the Creator of the Universe!
Graciously, under no duress and with no reason outside of His glory and love for us, He listens, cares, humbles himself, and communes with us! What a wonderful reality that is! And so, the call for us today is to pray; pray for His will, which is good and enduring, to come to fruition in our lives and in the lives of the students we serve.
Your prayers have the power to shape the future of our ministry. After all, we call on the Author and Perfecter of our salvation; is there anything impossible for Him?
Would you join us in praying for Spokane Youth for Christ? I sincerely hope that our ministry will be supported by prayer. I pray that under-resourced students in Spokane will experience the kindness and sacrifice of Jesus, leading them to know Him personally. Additionally, I hope that YFC will act as the hands and feet of the church, helping to ensure the true flourishing of these students.
I will share Spokane YFC’s prayer requests every month. I hope to include you in our work and be a ministry that is consistently prayed for.
March prayer requests from our staff at Spokane Youth for Christ include:
- Ronald, a student who grew up in church but doesn’t like to attend anymore.
- Micah, a freshman who was kicked out of school with behavior concerns, is in foster care and is at risk of being homeless.
- Sleep and rest for the students.
- That students would deeply know and experience the fullness of Jesus’ love, leading to true transformation in their lives.
- Passionate volunteers with discernment to see into students’ lives and love them well.
- That students would be drawn to God’s Word with curiosity and eagerness, and that He would open their hearts.
- YFC’s Anti-Sex Trafficking Conference in May: a smooth event, community togetherness, and that people would see the light of Christ.
- Strong church partnerships.
- A strong network of supporters.
Thank you for your willingness and kindness in joining us in prayer! Your support is invaluable and has eternal significance.
