Kate
Kate is a 7th grader at Shaw who’s been attending YFC very consistently this year. She loves dance and gymnastics and is incredible at accomplishing the things she sets her mind to. The last few months have not been easy though. At school, there was an extraordinary amount of turmoil and drama throughout the month of December. There were several days where Kate showed up at YFC shaken and anxious about threats from students and impending consequences of the conflicts between them.
Through all of this, she allowed the staff to turn her eyes towards Jesus. She pressed into the word and listened to trusted mentors until the situation resolved. Today, she is growing in confidence in Jesus and herself. I think she was truly able to see the Lord deliver her from the hand of her enemy in a way that she won’t forget. Now as she participates in Alpha Youth with us on Thursday evenings, she can act as a leader as someone who has tasted and seen that the Lord is good. When life gets hard, as we all know it will, Kate will remember the way the Lord has walked beside her and directed her steps. For now, Kate continues to show up with joy and hope each day she comes to YFC.
