The Power of Partnerships

Madi is a Junior at Rogers High School. Since coming to the center, she has asked for help looking for a job and building her resume. She has also brought other girls to the center, including her younger sister, Liz, and another best friend from school!

Since spending time at Youth For Christ, I have seen her come out of her shell much more. She is kind, soft-spoken, driven, and eager to learn. I have also seen her grow as a leader and example to her younger sister. Madi has come to help some of the younger girls with volleyball before their tryouts, and I was able to see her leadership skills develop here, too; to see her coaching the younger girls was encouraging for her and us on staff!

The after-school programs at Youth For Christ have been instrumental in Madi’s personal and professional growth. They have provided her with the opportunity to explore various interests, one of which is the art of coffee making and the business side of running a coffee shop. The guidance and expertise of our staff, many of whom have worked in the coffee industry, have further fueled Madi’s passion for this field.

Madi is currently taking part in an internship with Indaba Coffee here in Spokane! Indaba is widely known in the area and has 4 locations in town.  This six-week internship program provides graduating high school seniors a comprehensive understanding of the coffee industry. Over six weeks, Madi will have gained hands-on experience in various aspects of Indaba’s cafe operations and the art of coffee. The six weeks of this coffee program include an introduction to Indaba’s roast house, cafe shadowing experience, register operations, food preparation, espresso operations, and the art of coffee!

We thought that Madi would be perfect for this internship due to her positive attitude and leadership skills, among many other things. The Spokane YFC staff also looks forward to this partnership with Indaba Coffee. YFC focuses on being a holistic ministry and being able to provide job training for our students, which is very close to our hearts.

We are committed to providing students like Madi with practical training that can be applied in the job market. We invite you to join us in prayer for Madi’s ongoing journey and for the success of this opportunity. Your support is invaluable to us.
