A YFC Parent
“I finally got a car, and it’s time to get my life together. I know the first thing I need to do is get my daughter involved in YFC.” Kelly was a YFC kid herself at West Central YFC, and after many years, she’s back, but now on the side of a parent. This year has been marked by significant changes and challenges for her and her family. Still, Kelly found herself ready to help herself and her daughter. She doesn’t know much of what’s next, but she’s confident in one thing. Her first step: connect with YFC.
Kelly’s daughter is sweet and endearing. She eagerly shared with me how her mom was letting her return to her old school, which she had left the previous year. Kelly is now encouraging her daughter to graduate from Roger’s High School and pursue a scholarship to the Gonzaga Nursing School. Kelly believes in a better future for her kid, and YFC is thrilled to be a part of it.
YFC has the opportunity to walk alongside Kelly and her daughter in various ways. Immediately, we got her signed up for summer camp and connected her with a local church that was willing to provide a full scholarship. Kelly agreed to do whatever it takes to ensure her child gets to camp. We shared with the family information about our weekly food boxes and summer workshops. We hope to advocate for and champion Kelly’s daughter alongside her. We hope and pray that we will get to watch her walk across the stage of the Spokane Arena in her cap and gown. We believe in a better future for these kids, and we don’t just want to sit back and watch it happen; we want to be part of each of their stories. We hope that when Kelly’s daughter grows up and is shaken by a crisis, YFC will come to mind. Join us in praying for genuine life change for YFC students, that we may be able to sit alongside Kelly to watch her daughter graduate from high school, and that each of us may proclaim that the Lord has been faithful every step of the way.
