Our Model

Intentional relationships

Intentional relationships underscore every aspect of Spokane YFC.  Whether it's with an at-risk youth, a donor, or a volunteer leader, everything we do is centered on healthy, Christian relationships.  It is through these relationships where the ministry best reflects God's love to the teens and empowers them to reach their full potential in life.

Youth Centers

The City Life Youth Centers serve as the hub for YFC ministry.  As unique locations that are within walking distance, young people develop ownership of “place” at their youth center.  Here they participate in programs, build relationships, and develop the skills to rise above their current circumstances.

Ministry Houses

YFC currently has two ministry houses in West Central, with plans to add two ministry houses, one for men and one for women, located in the heart of Hillyard.  Six to eight people live in each house and get to experience sharing the love of Jesus Christ in an urban context with one another, their neighbors, and the youth.  By shopping, playing, going to church, and living within the same vicinity as those YFC ministers to, we believe that Youth for Christ can and will make a positive impact on young people and families in these neighborhoods.  The ministry houses reflect YFC’s commitment to live among the people we are trying to empower, but the houses also serve as a place to encourage and train indigenous leaders to continue ministering in the neighborhood where they were raised.

Strategic Programs

City Life Club is a high-energy, weekly outreach program that is designed to introduce students to Jesus Christ and help them understand the Christian faith.  At Club, youth share a family-style dinner, enjoy music, play games, listen to a speaker, and then divide into small groups to discuss a topic or study the Bible.  It is where intentional discipleship relationships develop and where staff and volunteers engage students with the Gospel.

Drop-In takes place five days a week in the hours following students’ release from school.  The Drop-In program gives leaders opportunities to build relationships with young people in a relaxed, non-programmed, informal environment.  Through these relationships, young people also get connected to additional YFC programs, local church fellowships, or other community opportunities.
